Stacks ‘22 in review
Whether you’re new here or you’ve been following us since the beginning, thank you for supporting us on our Web3 journey this last year. Let’s take a look at some of the major things that have happened in the Stacks ecosystem this year. 🎉
Stacks 2.1 approved
The next big upgrade for Stacks has been approved, which means we can expect big improvements very soon. Most notably, this upgrade strengthens the connection between Stacks and Bitcoin, allowing developers to link and trigger more interactions between the two networks. On top of this, Stacks 2.1 unlocks the ability to create better bridges, decentralize mining pools, transact Bitcoin-native assets, and so much more.
We’re especially excited for the ability to send NFTs directly to a Bitcoin wallet. 👀Learn all about the upgrade down below 👇
sBTC: Unlocking Bitcoin
Just recently, Stacks released the sBTC whitepaper, which details how sBTC will allow Bitcoin to become a secure Web3 foundation. In essence, sBTC is a trustless, decentralized asset pegged to Bitcoin that will enable a whole new era of Bitcoin Web3 applications. You can learn more about what sBTC unlocks in the whitepaper 👇

The Rise of BNS
Thanks to our Stacks community and Ethereum friends igniting the fire under BNS (and to our amazing builders at Gamma for their hard work on our BNS portal), .BTC names have grown exponentially popular. Because of the BNS rise, we’ve seen thousands of new community members begin trading Stacks NFTs and repping .BTC names all over social.
