Streamlined strategies for debuting an Ordinals collection
At Gamma, our mission is to equip you with all the essential tools needed for flourishing as a creator. In addition to offering an extensive (and free!) suite of tools to launch your collection, we're also on hand to provide unparalleled support during your minting process, ensuring your launch is as seamless as possible.
Though we're always open to brainstorming strategies for optimizing your Ordinals debut, several creators have already independently launched collections. In honor of these self-starters, we've assembled a list of useful suggestions and best practices to guide you towards doing the same.
Optimize your file size: Minting on Bitcoin is unlike minting on any other blockchain. To prevent your minters from bearing the brunt of hefty inscription fees, it's imperative to optimize your file sizes. This could involve shrinking your pixel art canvas size, delving into recursive techniques, transitioning to .webp files, among a plethora of other viable alternatives to explore. On Gamma, we also help you compress files that are too large. You can test this out yourself and preview the costs of inscriptions by heading to gamma.io/ordinals.
Stay aware of trends, yet strive for uniqueness: While it’s crucial to keep an eye on current market patterns, the collections that truly stand out are often the ones pioneering trends, not merely trailing them. Check out the featured Squared collection near the end of this newsletter for an example of what we’re talking about. What innovative or artistic elements can you bring to the table?
Nurture your community: This step could arguably be the most vital of all — diligently cultivate an active community as you approach your project’s launch! If you’re an emerging artist, it's crucial to interact with fellow creators and collectors; consider joining conversations on platforms like Twitter Spaces and express your support for others. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with you to rally an audience that's eager to amass your work or be an active part of your community!

Gamma Curated Series
We are thrilled to unveil the Gamma Curation Series, a periodic showcase of handpicked Ordinal inscriptions available for purchase on the Gamma platform. Spanning across an array of artistic styles and genres, these collections will spotlight not only up-and-coming artists but also headline auctions and more.
At the helm of curating these unique collections is Hugo Pouchard, a seasoned art veteran with a decade’s experience straddling the worlds of traditional art and Web3. Hugo’s illustrious career includes stints at renowned institutions such as Christie’s and artsy.net, along with dynamic startups like faction.art. He was also instrumental in shaping Gamma’s inaugural gallery at Ordinals Alley during Bitcoin Miami 2023.
While our in-house team will primarily reach out to artists for this curation endeavor, we also encourage proactive submissions through our ongoing open call. Head to our blog post below to learn more and apply to the open call!
30 days of free trading on Gamma
We’re not sure if you’ve heard…for all creators who launch their collection through Gamma, you’ll get 30 days of fee-free secondary trading to help jumpstart collection liquidity. What does this mean for you?
Active secondary marketplace: Your community can trade freely on Gamma for 30 days, keeping liquidity healthy on your primary marketplace — the only marketplace that offers creator royalties.
Continue earning: If you set a 2% royalty, your collectors will still have the lowest fee trading experience on Gamma than anywhere else — this means you continue to benefit from your work as it gets resold.
