Miami Artist Open Call
We’re so excited to invite you to apply for our week-long Bitcoin art show during Art Basel Miami at the Sagamore, Miami's original art hotel. Works will be exhibited on an immersive, 100 sq ft curved LED wall, located in the heart of Miami Beach's Art Deco District.
In this context, we are excited to announce an open call for artists to submit artworks inspired by the Art Deco movement. A prominent artistic and design style of the 1920s and 1930s, known for its floral ornamentation, geometric shapes, and feeling of opulence.
During this period, Miami experienced significant growth and development, resulting in the construction and design of numerous buildings in the Art Deco style. We'd like to pay homage to this moment as we begin a new one — the digital art movement preserving works on Bitcoin.
Our 7 day show will be presented on an immersive, 100 sq ft LED wall, curved around the natural architecture within the Sagamore South Beach lobby. Just two blocks from Art Basel, it will be seen by thousands of art collectors, hotel guests, and event attendees.
Partner Artist of the Week
Welcome to another Featured Artist of the Week, a series highlighting remarkable artists creating Ordinals through the Gamma Partner Program!
Today, we meet Olly, principle artist at Discord who's designed posters for some of the biggest films and games in the world.
Olly is passionate about of paying it forward. He constantly mentors younger artists and helps them along their artistic path, giving them advice and feedback on their work, just as he was mentored during his incredible time learning from Drew Struzan.
For his debut launch on Bitcoin, Olly launched 'Baron von Bitcoin' as part of The Aristocrats collection, which is a playful jab at some of the less savory characters in the space, and also a cheeky homage to the dirtiest joke in the world, which sums up these deviant types.
Olly has since launched 'The Coronation of Apes,' which was a nod to apes and how they have taken over NFTs across all chains. Again, he employs his unique style, which is cohesively linked to Baron von Bitcoin with a collection of 16 exclusive pieces.
In a recent conversation with Olly, we talked about learning to not be sensitive about one’s art when given feedback. As artists, we create something that we feel is precious, but must be open to improvement. You can listen to our entire conversation in the following interview:
Keep an eye on all of Olly's drops with us on Gamma, as he continues his Aristocrats collection. You can dive deeper into what he's doing at Discord, follow him on Instagram, and see some of the films and games he has created for!
The Art of Sport
Art and sport are infinitely interwoven in a way that travels beyond pure aesthetics and competition. Art and sport alike, have taken away one’s breath, evoked the gamete of human emotion, as well as shaped and defined countries and cultures. The intersection of creativity and physical prowess, where pencil strokes and camera-shutter clicks meet the energy of the playing field has long captured our attention — from the back of the newspaper, to magazines, to the walls of galleries. Â
An uncanny confluenceÂ
Art and sport are compelled by the human pursuit of mastery, the desire to evoke emotions, and our intrinsic need to tell stories.
Almost all famous sporting moments, since the inception of the media, have been captured in one form or another. There is an irrefutable magic in an athlete's fluid motion, be it the angelic grace of a rhythmic gymnast, the force of a track and field athlete, or the breathtaking action of a horse thundering down the straight of a race track. Visual artists and photographers are there to seek out these moments, to portray the moment’s form and function long after it has occurred.
