Introducing the Gamma Curated Series 🎨
Ever since its inception, Gamma has aimed to empower creators with robust, user-friendly tools that enable them to initiate their projects using Bitcoin.
Now, with the introduction of the Gamma Curation Series, we’re amplifying the exposure of budding artists from the Web3 world, offering unique avenues for those keen on creating a lasting legacy on the Bitcoin blockchain.
The Gamma Curation Series will be a periodic showcase of handpicked Ordinal inscriptions available for purchase on the Gamma platform. Spanning across an array of artistic styles and genres, these collections will spotlight not only up-and-coming artists but also headline auctions and more.
At the helm of curating these unique collections is Hugo Pouchard, a seasoned art veteran with a decade’s experience straddling the worlds of traditional art and Web3. Hugo’s illustrious career includes stints at renowned institutions such as Christie’s and artsy.net, along with dynamic startups like faction.art. He was also instrumental in shaping Gamma’s inaugural gallery at Ordinals Alley during Bitcoin Miami 2023.
While our in-house team will primarily reach out to artists for this curation endeavor, we also encourage proactive submissions through our ongoing open call. To learn more about the Gamma Curation Series, catch up on our latest blog post.
What’s all the recursive buzz about?
If you've created a Bitcoin Ordinals collection, you know that Bitcoin's tight blockspace makes producing detailed collections costly in terms of inscription fees. With Bitcoin transaction costs soaring, it's crucial to optimize your work, ensuring your buyers invest more in your craftsmanship, not in excessive miner fees. However, we know that image quality often suffers with file compression. So, is there a better solution?
Here's where recursive collections come into play. This approach may not suit everyone, but it's worth considering if you're launching editions or generative trait collections. Instead of inscribing thousands of JPEG files individually for a profile picture collection, you can inscribe the collection's traits and generate the images using brief code snippets within SVG/HTML files.
In addition, creators can utilize inscribed code libraries for art generation. For example, OnChainMonkey’s Dimensions collection offers a public JS library for any generative artist to use.
The use of recursive methods for launching collections is a relatively new trend, but it's quickly becoming a favored way of creating high-quality art with lower inscription fees.
