We hosted An Ordinal Evening in Marfa took place on November 15, 2024, at Alta Marfa Wine Bar in Marfa, TX.
Gamma distributed 36 disposable film cameras, inviting attendees to document Art Blocks Marfa Weekend.
The photos were developed and scanned for decorated collage artist and Gamma Partner Artist Michelle Thompson.
Michelle partnered with Gamma’s tech lead, jnapp, to create a fully on-chain, recursive collage photography collection.
The Collection: Greetings from Marfa
Features 432 curated outputs, paying homage to Marfa’s area code (432).
A collective visual experience now permanently inscribed on Bitcoin.
Process & Technology
Over 100 unique files, totaling nearly 4MB of pre-inscribed data.
An advanced engine stitched multiple images together, generating unique 1/1 outputs.
While capable of producing 50,000+ combinations, Michelle hand-curated 432 final pieces.
The collection was inscribed using parent/child provenance, preserving all images and attributes on-chain.
Key inscription details—parent ID, number of children, and mint price—reference Marfa’s 432 area code.

Meet Gamma Partner Artist Michelle Thompson, a British illustrator and collage artist whose clients have included Apple, Sky, The New York Times, & Marvel.
Michelle's work draws inspiration from women’s censorship, vintage magazines, and exudes a gritty texture and powerful message. She pays tribute to Warhol and Rauschenberg as sources of creative inspiration, capturing the spirit of pop culture nostalgia.
Michelle’s artistic heroes include Rauschenberg, Motherwell, and Beuys, who influence her artistic style. Having done a lot of commissioned artwork, Michelle enjoys getting to craft on her own terms.
Her artistic approach marries the discipline of commissioned work, with its defined briefs and deadlines, with the unbridled freedom of personal projects. Inspired by classic advertising and the exploration of women's censorship, her creations bear a gritty texture reminiscent of vintage magazines. This blend demonstrates her mastery over both analog and digital realms, allowing the artwork to seemingly take on a life of its own.
