Ordinals Spotlight: GIFs
GIFs (Graphics Interchange Format) are a way to create art through short, looping animations. Originally developed by Steve Wilhite at CompuServe in 1987 for image compression, GIFs quickly evolved into a creative tool due to their support for animation and transparency. Gifs are integral to internet culture, and can now be preserved on BTC.
Let’s meet a few Partner Artists who release work using this animated file format.
Partner of the Week
Welcome to another Featured Artist of the Week, a series highlighting remarkable artists creating Ordinals through the Gamma Partner Program! Today, we meet Andrew Hooker, an Australian photographer who paints pictures using his camera instead of a brush.
Andrew’s work is defined by the nature of ICM (intense camera movement), a technique that results in a unique visual style.
One of Andrew’s most cherished pieces is Twisted Arbor, which he created while traveling a remote dirt road he had visited multiple times.
Through his artistic journey, Andrew has gained a new perspective on the world via his camera. In a recent interview with Andrew, he discussed his artistic journey through photography, a passion that emerged while embracing a life of freedom and exploration.
