The Weekly Stack: NEW Gamma Ordinals Marketplace 🎉
Welcome to Gamma's weekly newsletter, where we share all the news and alpha you need to know about Bitcoin NFTs. Be sure to share and subscribe if you like this issue!
Our biggest launch yet 🚀
Maybe you’ve heard the news…
On Monday, Gamma launched the very first fully-audited and trustless Ordinals marketplace built completely on layer 1 Bitcoin, with built-in royalties for creators (we’ve got you), a remarkable web3-native experience, state-of-the-art creator tools, and seamless integrations with secure third-party wallet extensions.
Over the past few weeks, the dedicated team at Gamma has been putting in countless hours to make this launch happen. We’re still growing and can’t wait to continue supporting you all on your Bitcoin NFT journey, whether you’re a creator or collector. Since launching our user-friendly, no-code launchpad, you’ve created over 30,000 inscriptions on Bitcoin and counting with us.
While we started out as an open marketplace for Bitcoin-secured NFTs on the Stacks blockchain, our ultimate goal is to evolve and grow with the Bitcoin NFT landscape, creating the best tools for your Web3 identity and future. If you’re new here, head to gamma.io and start exploring our marketplaces and creator tools today!
Oh, and one more thing…individual inscriptions on Gamma are now free. Since Bitcoin network fees are up, we’re trying to make inscriptions accessible to as many people as possible. Check out Gamma’s free, no-code, no-node inscription tool now and just pay Bitcoin network fees. 🫡
Let’s hang out in Miami 🏖️
We’re proud to sponsor the first ever Ordinals Conference, happening on May 18th in Miami Beach! As the presenting sponsor, Gamma is offering a discount code for $50 off your ticket with this code: ORDS23GAMMA.
We hope you’re excited to party, hack, learn, and create with us! We’ll also be exhibiting a curated art gallery at the Bitcoin Conference 2023, so be sure to stop by — you won’t want to miss it.
Resources & education ✏️
Gamma’s no-code Ordinals launchpad
With the new Ordinals protocol, people who operate nodes in the Bitcoin network can inscribe individual satoshis with data, creating an Ordinal inscription. Inscribing a satoshi creates a unique Bitcoin native digital asset, that can be held in a Bitcoin wallet and transferred using Bitcoin transactions.
However, as a user, creating an inscription is complex, costly, time-consuming and requires advanced technical knowledge. We’re here to change that by allowing users to create single Ordinal inscriptions, bulk inscriptions, airdrop Ordinals, request collection pages, and launch Ordinals Public Mints, and as of Monday, trustlessly trade.
Learn how you can inscribe your first Ordinal Inscription (for free, just pay network fees) through Gamma below 👇
Prioritizing user safety
While it’s fun and exciting to explore new features in crypto (like our new Ordinals marketplace), it’s also important to stay vigilant and protect yourself from potentially malicious threats and scams. Creators, collectors, and users will always be our top priority at Gamma — that’s why we’ve made a few important additions to the Gamma Ordinals marketplace to ensure you are protected, including:
Showing a notice on inscription pages if an inscription doesn't belong to a given or large collection.
Explicit warnings and confirmations that ask if you'd like to continue when purchasing an inscription that doesn’t belong to a larger collection.
Featuring collections on our homepage rather than individual inscriptions — we’ll be rolling out custom profiles for individual artists soon.
Read our thread below to learn more about how we’re working to protect our users. Additionally, please let us know if you have any more feedback or suggestions by contacting us through Twitter, Discord, or by responding to this email!
Artistic Peacocks 🦚
From Gamma’s resident dot-work artists and arts & culture specialist, Carole Levy, comes a new piece on Peacocks in the arts. Read all about how these majestic creatures have shaped the arts throughout history in the blog post below. Who knows? You just might be inspired to bring Peacocks into the new age of NFT art.
Over the last few centuries, artists have used symbolism to convey messages with subtlety and nuance. While the symbol of the “eyed feathers” mean different things for different cultures, peacocks are no exception and have been used by many to represent royalty, beauty, rebirth, immortality, paradise, and wealth.
